Walk 3/51: Fistral to Pentire Headland
Of course, starting out at Fistral Beach again.
At the time of my early explorations, everthing I did had to meet the government allowance for movement and exercise: 1 hour a day, and only if I could walk to it. And I’m not about to start a GPS tracker from where I’m actually living, so Fistral Beach it is!
I mean, there are worse views to start out with.
But what surprised me about the East Pentire headland was how much more amazing the views became the further I explored. I was also able to discover a new beach and surf spot: Crantock!
It’s strange that Crantock Beach is so close to Newquay, yet, it hardly comes up in conversation or in any media when promoting surfing or Newquay. I may or may not have discovered why: there’s no direct or easy path from the East Pentire Headland down to the actual beach. You either need to drive 15 min or clamber down a bunch of rocks.
My early walks of this Headland were a bit stunted, looping back on myself a lot. It’s taken me a while to discover a slightly larger, but less scenic loop to make this walk just under 4km. But the views along the way make the 4km worthwhile.
